Hello friends

I am going to buy Graphics card online..When i check prices then i choose 2 graphics card which are perfectly fit to my budget

Gtx 1060 6gb OC ( i like gigabyte gaming 1060 / Aurous xtreme 1060)
Sapphire nitro Rx 580 8 Gb OC ( i am getting at same price as gtx 1060 in a offer)

Plz help me to choose between them..
My requirement is only 1080p gaming..as my Monitor is 1080p monitor and i am not going to change it for 2-3 years

Solution
RX 580 8 GB is better imo, more VRAM, in most case on par or had minor advantage over the GTX 1060 [especially DX12 / Vulkan games], but the downside is the higher power consumption and temperature

just go with the one u prefer, can't really go wrong with these 2 anyway,

I agree with the More 8GB V Ram but i have not seen any game till now which has used more then 4GB of memory

well future game might utilize it which is why the i mentioned the bigger VRAM in the first place XD

Yea that will be True:)

I don't understand why people keep claiming that games don't use more than 4GB VRAM. GTA V on my 1060 6GB uses like 5GB and there are other games which do too. Games use as much VRAM as possible. This is called memory management. If a GPU has less VRAM, the games will use less and if they have more, the games will use more at the same settings and same resolution.

i know this is an old thread, but just want to set this straight (so that people who read this later on will understand the whole thing)

u're not wrong, but imo u're not entirely right either

if things go as you described, there would be no meaning to the VRAM size, since they will adjust to your VRAM size XD

games does use as much VRAM as possible, but once the VRAM reaches it's limit, they'll also use some of your normal RAM, which in some case can cause issue because of the speed difference between RAM and VRAM processing speed (+ u'll have less available RAM for multitasking).. which is why i recommend the RX 580 in the first place, while the performance are around the same, thanks to the extra VRAM, it should allow you to get into higher resolution, using high res texture and more, all without having issues such as stuttering or more

having too much VRAM doesn't exactly increase performance, but having too little is definitely not ideal :)
