I currently have a gtx 1060 6gb and I want to upgrade my cpu from a amd6300 to a i5 7500. I’m also thinking of getting a gtx 1070 8gb and upgrading my cpu to a amd8350. What should I do?

Solution
I would suggest you buy a Ryzen 5 1600 or wait for the i5 8400 to be in stock. I would NOT suggest you buy any FX CPU because they are a dead platform and several years old, and you should also avoid the i5 7500 because you cannot upgrade to any newer Intel CPUs. As for your GPU, it depends what resolution and framerate you game at. At 1080p 60fps the 1060 6GB is perfect, at 1080p 120-144fps the 1070 will be a justified upgrade, 1440p or higher at any framerate the 1070 will be necessary
In addition to what combinebasic mentions, how is this upgrade to work?

The first suggests you're thinking of a swap to an Intel system requiring a CPU, motherboard and RAM change but keeping the graphics card.

The second suggests you're thinking of upgrading the CPU and graphics card for your current system.

If the budget in either case comes to the same amount, then I think you'd see more benefit in the i5-7500 upgrade than the FX-8350. But, there is the possibility of needing a new Windows licence.

No need for a Graphics Card update since both are good for VR and are high end cards. CPU upgrades, might mean you have to buy a new motherboard.if this for gaming the. Instead of the amd fx (pretty sure they are fx) go with a Ryzen 5 of some sort.
