Setting up a second router for Guest LAN access

Hi,

Not a networking guru by any means so be gentle. I have just got a Gigabit FIOS connection and want to provide a router on one floor which I run as a business with Guest WiFi and LAN access for video streaming.

Will it work and restrict access to Router 1's intranet (i.e. my private bits) if I go from Router 1 LAN > Router 2 WAN and give Router 2 a different subnet like 192.168.5.1?

I've read the posts here on the matter and I'm hoping this simple solution will work. Right now I have an ASUS AC-87U but will upgrade it to something faster to handle the new Gigabit speeds.

Cheers for the help!

OK, then yes.
A second router, on a different subnet (ex. ...5.1), should work for what you need.

Hi, thanks for the reply but I need LAN access for the floor with the business on it for maximum speed and reliability for video streaming, not WiFi.

I'm using an ASUS AC-87U right now which is plugged into the FIOS fiber gateway modem.
