So I recently upgraded my graphics card driver which was a bit behind but until now I had no reason to update them. Now that I have whenever I run games my cpu hits as high as 100% but generally stays around 97-99%.
My temps are fine, I've set all my background applications to low in my task manager, and I've disabled the GeForce overlay, but no dice.
Once I close out of the game, even just minimize it, my cpu drops back down to a comfortable 8%...so my question is: Does my Processor need to be update? Do I need to update another driver? Can I store all my games on a Solid State Drive and it help resolve this issue? Plz Help, am computer Pleb and don't know what else to do.

Specs:
Processor - IntelCore i5-6400
Memory - DDR4 8G
Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GTX970 4GB
Storage - HDD 1TB

Solution
eventually the CPU now runs normal ?

try ddu uninstaller and reinstall the nvidia driver without geforce experience

have a look at your cpu temperatures
