Is there any way that a TalkTalk HG633 router could show a device has connected with Ethernet cable without physically connecting with an Ethernet cable? TalkTalk said it would be possible if
a second router were involved. I have a router in my room, one of five in a shared flat. After being hacked on my devices I restricted wireless access and barred one device from wireless completely. The next morning that device had connected with an Ethernet cable. How is this possible if I had locked my door between barring it and it connecting with Ethernet?

It really can't happen but it may not be connected the way you think

How does the internet get into your room. If it uses a DSL line and there is nothing connected to the ethernet ports then it can't. If you have it hooked up via one of the ethernet ports then you are running the box as a AP and you will see any other machine in the house.

What is really strange is the mac addresses for wireless are different than the ones for ethernet. So even if it was the same machine it would connect via 2 different mac addresses.

This may be your router displaying something incorrectly.

Question from paul9630 : "Hacked from impossible connection via Ethernet cable"

Is there any way that a router’s admin console could show a device has connected with Ethernet cable without physically connecting with an Ethernet cable? TalkTalk said it would be possible if
a second router were involved. I have an HG633 router in my room, one of five in a shared flat. After being hacked on my devices again I restricted wireless access and barred one device from wireless completely. The next morning that device had connected with an Ethernet cable. How is this possible if I had locked my door between barring it and it connecting with Ethernet?
