Which GPU for which Monitor

Hello all,

I am looking to upgrade my current rig:

CPU : AMD FX-6300 3.5Ghz 6-Core
Motherboard : ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0, ATX
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz
GPU : Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 4GB Dual-X

I am going to upgrade my CPU to a Ryzen 5 1600 and I'll be getting a B350 MOBO for sure along with 16GB of RAM.

I am on the fence however on my new GPU: either a GTX 1070, 1070ti, or a 1080. Along with this uncertainty is a new monitor in the future. I currently play at 900p (1600x900). I am looking to either go for 1080p at +120hz or 1440p at 60hz. I am not interested in the pricey G-sync monitors.

Which GPU should I pair with which monitor? I am looking for longevity and a worthwhile upgrade. If I go for a 1440p monitor I am worried my rig wouldn't be able to play future games at that resolution. But I don't want to upgrade to 1080p and be bottlenecked because the GPU doesn't need to work too hard to play at 1080p.

Any advice?

Thanks.

EDIT: I should add that I am not doing an immediate monitor upgrade so I will be bound to my current 1600x900 monitor for sometime. Side-question, would my any of these GPU's be overkill for this resolution and would I suffer a bottleneck in a way where my performance is hindered at this resolution (900p).

EDIT 2: I play a plethora of games I have around 330 in my Steam Library. I will also be buying Destiny 2 soon. So would the 1440p 60hz be a better option overall?

Price to performance I'd pair your upgrade with the GTX 1070 ti and depending on the types of games you play would determine which monitor you upgrade to. FPS games such as CSGO/Battlefield/COD would benefit with the 1080P/120+ monitor while less competitive games would be better with a 1440P/60hz monitor. Also I'd keep the 900P monitor as a secondary if you have enough room as it's nice to have for websites and such while your gaming.

As for using the 900P monitor for now would be fine as you can utilize Nvidia DSR and run games at a much higher resolution over 900P and have it down scaled to your monitor which looks good, I use 4K DSR with a 1080P monitor for some games and it makes a noticeable difference.

So 1070ti? If I can find one at a reasonable price lol. I am used to the Radeon software so I was unaware of Nvidia DSR. So I can upscale the resolution for games on my current monitor until I get a new one? AMD has a similar one feature but the 1920x1080 resolution looked strange on my monitor.
