So I have an Alienware X51 R2 and I am looking to upgrade its GTX 745 to a GTX 1070ti. Someone told me that my PC doesn't provide the wattage necessary for a 1070ti, so they recommended I swap the guts from my PC into a bigger case, and buy an additional power supply for the graphics card alone. I believe the 1070ti needs 180W of power, so does anyone know a power supply I could use for this purpose?

Well the thing is that my PC has a power board that distributes only 175W to the graphics card while the 1070ti requires 180W. This is just the advice someone gave to me in a different thread

Is that one of those mini cases?

Yea its pretty small

Ah, then it's proprietary more than likely.

Why not just get a GTX 1060 and be done with it?

I was thinking about that, because it's a lot cheaper and stuff, but I want to get a graphics card that will last me a while and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the 1070ti outperforms the 1060 by a lot so I'd probably prefer the 1070ti

Looks like it's a standard 24 Pin Power connection on the actual MB and a standard 4 PIN CPU power connection. Don't need the power board from what it looks like if you swap out the case.

And it's got a standard Front Panel header.

So just get a case and swap out the motherboard into the new case.

And get a standard ATX PSU, a 550W.

If it was me I would lose the case, I would just pull the MB out and toss the case and power board.
