I recently built a new gaming/general purpose build and started looking into the nvidia control panel. There seems to be a lot of stuff in there and I was curious if there were any default settings I could safely change in order to make my viewing experiences better in terms of picture / video quality. I'm using a Dell U2515HX monitor and a GTX 1050 Ti card.

For example, in the "texture filtering" drop box, "quality" is selected. The other two options are high quality and high performance. Quality matters but would a higher performance give a better experience?

It doesn't do anything in those circumstances, as you are not attempting to fit a 3d scene to a 2d screen, that's where it can carry out or not carry out some tasks, AA for instance. For flat video and photo it just displays them as they are.

But what about non gaming scenarios such as viewing photos or watching movies/videos?

Also, I use VLC as my main source for viewing videos offline. Are there any setting recommendations for upping quality and performance within VLC that you're aware of?
