What power cables should I use for my Asus gtx 1080. It has a 6 pin and 8 pin connector on it. I am currently using the included psu(modular) cable that is a 6 pin to a dual 6+2, when I only need 6 pin and an 8 pin. Can I use 2 separate cables, or is there a 6+8 pincable?

What's system specs? Esp. the PSU exact brand and model?

Depending on wire gauges it varies and whether the PSU has a single or dual 12V rails.

Does the PSU have a single PCIE power connectors with the single "6 pin to a dual 6+2"? I'm assuming since you're rocking a GTX 1080 you have a good PSU with more than just one. As you also asked if you could use 2 separate cables.

It's safer to use two cables if there are more than one connector on the modular outlet which I think there are.

One connector+cable from the PSU to the 6-pin on the card and another connector+cable from the PSU to the 8-pin on the card is safer.

I would do that for peace of mind.
