I need to setup a VPN to access my NAS while offsite. The NAS works as I need with the workstations on the LAN.

What I have done so far:
I setup DDNS via No-IP. This is working as I can ping both addresses successfully.

I setup Port Forwarding using VPN-PPTP and port number 1723 for both external and internal ports along with the static IP address of the VPN server on my LAN. The VPN server has access out to the Internet. I have the VPN server configured including username and password for the VPN which I verified is correct. Routing and remote access is enabled in the Windows firewall. I even tested with the firewall disabled.

I believe my issue is at the router with my Port Forwarding configuration. After attempting to connect via VPN I checked the logs on the router and see the following:
[LAN access from remote] from "PUBLIC IP ADDRESS" to 192.168.1.5:1723, "CURRENT DATE"

The public IP address is correct and the internal IP address is correct as the router logs the attempt but I cannot gain access.

Running a port test on 1723 shows the port is closed.

Attempting to access the network via web browser shows connection refused.

Looks like the issue will be with the Port Forwarding. Any tips on what to try to open this port up?
