I am looking at getting a Fujitsu Document Scanner and have a couple of questions. Can it be used as a copy machine? Could I scan a document and then send it to a printer or is there any other work around?

Does the ix500 scanner have any of its own storage? Could I scan 4 or 5 documents with it without my PC being on, and then transfer those file the next time I turn my pc on?

Thanks for any advice

You may be able to scan the documents to an SD card if the Fujitsu supports doing so.

Or perhaps even a USB flash drive....

My advice would be to go to the Fujitsu website and locate the scanner's User Guide/Manual by Model Number.

Read carefully. Also check the FAQ's and Forums.

Pay close attention to the fine print in the footnotes or other referenced sources.

I have a Canon MX870 multifunction device (print, copy, scan, fax) that will copy without the computer being turned on. I also know that I can fax without the computer being turned on.

Have never considered scanning per se sans computer but will take a look into doing so.... Generally I scan only to attach the resulting file to an email and send. I.e., the PC is...

Overall, very sure that being able to scan and save (via SD card) depends on the scanner and its functionality. With or without a PC.
