I've been having issues with my PC lately, I've been playing The Sims 4 and it's continually crashing on me with 'The Sims 4 has stopped working' error. I did a complete clean reinstall of Windows and downloaded the drivers fresh and I still get the same error, the game crashing. FFXIV has also been crashing on me.

It doesn't crash my PC just the game. Is my PC getting too old? Faulty hardware?

Specs:
Intel i5-3570K
Geforce GTX 660
8GB Ram

Considering that you've apparently played those games before on the same hardware, I doubt that it's just too old. Faulty hardware is more likely than just age, although it could also be a driver incompatibility. Try rolling back to the last driver you remember it working fine on and see if that fixes the issue. If it does, just don't update your driver until the next release.

Thank you for responding!

So what I did was I uninstalled the graphic drivers as complete as I could, then I let windows download the drivers as it never downloads the latest. I got a notification a few minutes after playing the game that 'application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware' and it crashed.

Should I be downloading drivers from nVidia originally and block windows from downloading the drivers?
Or could something be wrong with the graphics card?

Yes. Manually download the driver before you do DDU, then tell Windows Update to go die in a corner and install the drivers manually. DDU can tell Windows not to automatically download the drivers, although I'm not sure if it actually works since M$'s new thing is "we know best, therefore you aren't allowed to stop our updater anymore" which is by far the dumbest thing they've ever done, bar none.
