Recommendations for an 8 core i7 for CAD use

I was wondering what i7 CPU would be recommended for use with dedicated CAD software (including, but not necessarily limited to, ArchiCAD and Artlantis). I'm looking at an 8 core, unless that's considered under/overkill?!

Any advice would,be gratefully received. :)

Cad can be different depending on which one is being used. If they have the money to get an i7-7820X, then go for it. Archicad seems to be one that wants more. You seem to have a good idea of what it needs already.
No issues. I'm wanting to put together a build for someone, and they asked for at least an 8 core i7. I feel it might be slight overkill, but I've never worked with CAD before, so can't be sure of how much of a performance hog it is. I imagine a decent amount of RAM, an SSD for the main drive and a GPU such as an nVidia Quadro P1000 would be more important from a performance point of view? Would I be correct in these assumptions?
