Slight burning smell.

Been gaming for atleast 1 hour I'd say, and I smell a slight burn. I instantly turn off my PC and have been looking if that's normal? It was really little of a smell, and my desktop is on the carpet. Is that a problem?

NO, it's not normal.

Try and see were the smell is coming from.

Make sure there is clearance between the bottom of the case and the carpet.

Just placed a piece of wood below the desktop. Will everything be fine with it now? This is a 1 month old desktop and I do have a 4 year warranty on it, will I have to replaced something that quick?

700+ watts minimum for that rig, surprised the "slight smell" was not a slight explosion..

It's fine now. Probabaly because it was on the carpet. No way they wouldn't calculate that on a prebuilt PC. Think you might've gotten something wrong. And it's just a 7700, not a 7700k.

Using 300w psu would be a negligent/incompetent choice for that system, 500w would be BARE minimum a competent builder would use for that setup,

Very likely the PSU was running hot. It's already working overtime just running the system, and most PSU's now are mounted on the bottom of the tower, and intake their air thru the bottom.

CPU only draws around 90W or so, GPU around 70W or less.

So that system might take maybe 200w max.

Yea I fixed that the problem with the air thing, and as long as the 300w supply works, I'm fine. I play light games anyway.

But any sort of upgrade like the Graphics card you will have to change the PSU.
