This is a pretty old system, its dusty, its done its job for years and I'm assuming a hardware component has finally bit the bullet.

I was surfing the net' and it just restarted on me then, it froze on the screen where you press esc to enter the bios, f11 to choose boot order etc. (The POST screen?). I turned it off, pressed esc repeatedly while it was booting up, got into the BIOS saved and exited and it started windows fine. A few hours later it did it again.

I re-installed Vista and it had no problems, so under heavy load it doesn't crash. I Installed a few things and turned it off. A little later I turned it on, it got to the windows log-on screen, I went to get a snack and when I came back it was frozen on the previously mentioned screen. So it seems to crash when not much is going on.

I've had RAM issues and it would cause BSOD, replaced the RAM and no more BSOD. The PC is running a fresh install of Vista so it is not a software issue. I'm thinking this is either the power supply or the processor cutting out on me. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking I should take the power supply out and put another one in. Does anyone have any other kinds of ideas? Has anyone had this kind of behavior before? It seems strange that a computer is freezing on the POST/BIOS screen...
