So I've just been noticing some lower fps than what I used to have. I assume it's thermal throttling, but I fixed the problem with a few Youtube videos :)

After that, CPU still hits 98oC while playing League at max settings. It's not too much of a graphic or CPU demanding game, but for some reason it's weird to see such temperatures. I experience no lag and the palm is STILL COOL for some reason. LIKE SERIOUSLY 98oC on the CPU and the WHOLE palm still rests cool. Is there anything wrong with this? Please help!

Specs:
Asus X555LB
i5-5200U
GT940M
8GB RAM
1TB HDD

p/s: Sorry for the caps I'm just too confused to see this weird stuff happening.

Hey man!, that's a bit too warm for a simple game like League, may i know when was the last time you cleaned your laptop out? ( internally). or you went and gave it for a service? at this point in time. the most obvious issues provided your hardware is still in operating condition ( like your laptop fan going really fast to cool things down... which is very audible) and there is some sort of hot air coming out the exhaust vent which i believe is between the chassis and screen for your particular model. the first thing il have you check out is the fan and heatsink arrangement inside your laptop and make sure they are clean from any sort of dust and debris. if all goes well and everything looks nice and squeaky clean. and you still run...

( internally). or you went and gave it for a service? at this point in time. the most obvious issues provided your hardware is still in operating condition ( like your laptop fan going really fast to cool things down... which is very audible) and there is some sort of hot air coming out the exhaust vent which i believe is between the chassis and screen for your particular model. the first thing il have you check out is the fan and heatsink arrangement inside your laptop and make sure they are clean from any sort of dust and debris. if all goes well and everything looks nice and squeaky clean. and you still run into temperatures exceeding 90+c as you mentioned before. it might be possible that your thermal paste has gone dry and your cpu and gpu and everything that needs active cooling will need a complete overhaul.... but before you get that technical with your laptop, il suggest you clear these 2 things to begin with:
1. make sure your are playing on a solid surface ( like a table ) and that you have all 4 rubber/silicon feet under your laptop to give it some elevation for it can pull in cold air from underneath.
2. make sure your vents are not blocked by rubbish ( can be human or cat hair or caked dust for that matter.

if your confident your laptop has ample amount of air to suck in and if your confident enough ( also only if your warranty is expired by now ) to pull off the back cover and take a look for dust and debris between the fan and heatsink ( solves 70% of overheating issues ). and then get back to us.

a few things to keep in mind before continuing:

laptops are delicate internally. so be careful once the back cover is off that you don't hit or rub up against anything my accident. if you have a friend or a shop that you can take it to that would be a great idea. everything you do will be at your own discretion. we can only help and give instructions... if you need even more information feel to let us know so we can help. cheerio, and best of luck good sir.

I did make sure to put it on a wood table, and I cleaned it internally as well. But I have no guts to delid the CPU and apply new thermal paste. I'll just find a laptop fixer.

Again, thank you all for your help. Very appreciated.
