System Freezes Often

Hey everyone, I have 2 issues I would like your advice on. I built a brand new system last year and am now having a couple of issues with it. I hope this provides enough detail, but will gladly provide more if needed. Thanks in advance!

1.Recently, my Windows 7 system has been freezing up pretty regularly. This happens regardless of whether I am just surfing the web via Chrome, or playing a game such as Destiny 2 or The Witcher 3. When this happens, the entire system becomes unresponsive to the point that even Ctrl Alt Delete does nothing until the system resumes it's normal state. This can sometimes take up to 2-3 minutes. I have monitored system temperatures using HWMonitor and system resource usage using Task Manager, none of which indicate any issues (CPU/RAM usage below 10%). A professor of mine suggested it could be the router/modem, but I'm not sure that would cause the entire system to freeze.

2. When gaming or listening to music (especially when gaming), the audio from my sound card, the audio becomes dominant in the left channel, to the point that I have to go into the application that comes with the sound card to adjust the levels and boost the right channel. Occasionally, I will also get loud "chirps", if you will, that are followed by a few moments of silence before the audio gradually fades back in. I have tried swapping PCIe slots and even purchased a new card (the Z series being the new one), but the issue persists. This did not happen prior to me building this new rig, and I'm not sure if the motherboard is at fault or what is going on.

Sorry for the book, I just wanted to provide as much detail as possible.

Tl;dr versions: 1. System freezing for unknown reasons, could be modem. 2. Sound card having issues, could be motherboard.

System specs:

MSI X99A SLI Plus MB
Intel i7-6800K @ 3.2 (cooled with Corsair H100i)
32GB DDR4 RAM @ 2133
1200W Corsair Platinum+ Rated PSU
Sound Blaster Z Series Sound Card (Amazon Link: http://a.co/8j9AIbK)
ASUS STRIX R9-390 (being replaced with a GeForce 1080)
5TB WD Black HDD
Router/Modem provided by Time Warner (now Spectrum)

Solution
Sorry for the delay with updating this, as we were in the process of moving, which took longer than expected. After putting the 1080 in, and moving the sound card to a different PCI slot, the sound issue and freezing seems to be resolved. It looks like it was a combination of an old modem and bad drivers causing the freezing and a faulty PCI slot. Hopefully, this issue is fully resolved at this point.

Since it's been a year, all sorts of things could be going on... It could be a driver issue, infections, heavily fragmented drive, etc...

Have you tried doing a clean boot? It would help rule out 3rd party software conflicts

What bout chkdsk, sfc, etc?... To make this part "easier", I'd suggest booting into 'Safe Mode w/ Networking' and running the Windows All In One Repair:

What about malware/virus scans? This would also be done from 'Safe Mode w/ Networking'. I would try these first and see if they find anything:

I have done an sfc a few times, all came back fairly quickly saying Windows detected nothing wrong. I have done quite a few scans with MalwareBytes and with my primary AV BitDefender, both came up clean. I have also tried doing a cleaning of the registry with CCleaner, all have done nothing so far. I will try a chkdsk tonight and the other suggestions then update this. It may be a few days as we are in the process of moving (love that).

UPDATE: chkdsk came back clean after clean boot. Will try Safe Mode w/Networking scan next.

I am not currently running an NVIDIA card. I am running an AMD R9-390 atm. I will be swapping that out for the 1080 later this week.
