Hi guys, I just need help to buy a new CPU for my build, I know I can build a better PC with a new mobo, but I don't have the money to do so, that's why I just want a better CPU for my current motherboard to run more games, not the newest ones, just the ones I got that need 4 cores. I'm in Mexico but buying online isn't a problem, just need the price to be under that budget. Here's my build currently: Mobo: Ga f2a55m-hd2 CPU: AMD a4 4000 RAM: DDR3 4gb HDD: 500 GB Video Card: ATI Radeon R7 260x 2GB DDR5 PSU: 525w
Thanks for the help.

Here is the CPU support list for that motherboard along with the BIOS version needed to recognize the CPU. Be sure to verify your board's Rev. number. The link I sent was for rev. 1

If you can buy at places like ebay, you will find the best deals. All the CPUs and APUs for that platform are obsolete now, and rarely found at retailers like Newegg and Amazon. But check them out anyway. I would look for an Athlon X4 760K/750Kor one of the A10 APUs at the top of the list.

I presume you found 'rev 3.0' printed on your motherboard?

Yeah I already knew the rev number just the exact number of the CPU not appearing in the list confused me, but its the same socket, so its gotta fit, right?

Damn AMD and their numbering sequence. They label their Athlon X4s from 840 to 880, and then come out with a new processor using a number that falls in the middle of the list... 845... but it is not compatible with the rest.

Can't you return the CPU because it isn't compatible?

Thanks for the help, I don't plan to OC it since I've got no experience and I think the fps gain is not worth it atm, I found the ga f2a60hm-h rev 1.1 and installed it succesfully and now I can run Dishonored at 60fps, soo worth it, thanks so much, you saved me.
