[HELP] Ryzen 5 1600 or i5 8600K?

Hi guys, i'm planning to upgrade my build in 2018, and i was thinking in a Ryzen 5 1600 or a Coffe Lake CPU like i5 8600K. The problem is, the i5 8600K is more expensive and i don't have much money, but i don't know if Ryzen 5 1600 is a good option to buy or spend a little more and go with i5 8600K

I actually have a AsRock Fatal1ty Z97x KIller + i5 4590 and i was thinking in buy an i7 4790K. Help me decide guys

This is also popped up in my mind. Keep your I5 4590 and simply upgrade the GPU.
Go all out later to replace the proc, mobo and RAM after I5 4590 is really a huge bottleneck.
Going to I7 4790k is not much of a jump and to go directly to Coffee Lake, you must invest quite a lot for not so big jump in most games.

First: 8600K is expensive due to low supply. We can expect it to change next year, which should drop the price (although it will still cost more then R1600).
Second: in 2018 there should be Cannon Lake CPUs. It is way too early to predict how it affect prices and attractiveness of older CPUs. If Intel drops a 6C/12T CPU at about 250$ range, it would change things massively.
So I think your question is asked too early. If you were to change CPU now, I would advise to keep current mobo and just switch to 4790K. But it's hard to say how much sense it will make in two months from now.

Well, i use my PC for gaming, i play BF1, PUBG, BF4, and games like that, i rarely use the PC for rendering, thats the reason i was thinking in the 4790K, less money and good performance, but Ryzen 5 1600 and i5 8600K are newer and perform better, but the problem is the high price of DDR4 RAM

Ideal pick:
For all-round use: Ryzen 5 1600
For pure gaming: I5 8600k

Budget constrained option:
If you are still on LGA1150 or old LGA1151 platform, I would simply try to keep the PC as possible. I7 4790k can still kick as and can be quite of a help compared to your I5 4590 on some games.
Getting a stronger GPU e.g. GTX1070 is also a good option...if you still have older and weaker GPU

If you're using it more for gaming I would go with the cheapest and sink any spare cash into uprating your GPU as this will have far more impact on what games/settings you can use. Are you going to be able to get a new 4790k at a sensible price? I just had a quick look on Newegg and the 4790 was nearly $100 more than an i5-8600k!

I picked up the i5 8600k at B&H Photo for $280. That would include tax and shipping. Better price then any place else I could find. not bad at all. I was going to go with the Ryzen. But at the end of the day I game more then anything else. The Ryzen 5s and 7s can not keep up with the i5 8600k at gaming.

Personally I think the 8600k is the better deal. It will overclock to 5ghz with no problem. Maybe even higher If your lucky. Also it beats out the Ryzen 1600 at all games and most applications.
