Hi guys,
I have a
ryzen 1700x clocked to 3.7GHz
asus strix 1080
16gb of DDR4 at 3200MHz

However, I feel like I am not getting the most out of my pc, e.g I play destiny at reasonable settings but rarely get over 100fps
I dunno if its drivers etc. but something doesnt quite feel right
maybe its just normal
any help would be appreciated

Is your 1700X underclocked?? Should boost to 3.8GHz out of the box.

Ultra settings >100FPS, High >130FPS.

Now, "some guy" on Youtube is not a definitive result by any stretch, but gives you some idea.
Those 1080's are paired with a 7700K though, so the lower IPC of the 1700X could be holding you back some. OCing the 1700X above stock speeds (3.8GHz) should help some....

What settings are you playing at? When the CPU/GPU are vastly overpowered, they don't keep churning out FPS exponentially .... so on low(er) settings or resolutions, it's not unrealistic for the CPU/GPU to be barely stressed at all when it's already achieving a "good" (depending on the metric) framerate.

Try turning up settings to V.High/Ultra at 1080p.....
