Installing new ram on an old acer g45t/43t and getting a long beep with no boot

Hello, I just ordered some ddr3 ballistix sport ram (2g 1600mhz ddr3 ram). I know the mobo's max is 1333mhz but i've been told that computers underclock ram automatically. I've tried adding it in with the old ram (2X2g 1333mhz and 2X1g 1333mhz) and also by itself and all I get it a long beep... does anyone know if these motherboards are able to underclock? Could it just be that the ram is bad? It sucks because faster ram is way cheaper than 1333mhz.

1| You;re dealing with an Acer prebuilt? or a transplanted motherboard in a new case?
2| I'm assuming you made sure your motherboard BIOS was updated prior to adding in the new stick of ram?
3| It's bad practice to mix and match rams. You should've gone for a kit.
4| It's quite possible that the board in itself wont accept the new ram(in itself) due to the reduced die size and higher density, I'm assuming at this point since you neglected to mention the model to your stick of ram A link to it would help.
5| We're also going to need to know the other two sticks of ram's make and model.

Sorry about that. I'm using the ram that came with the computer back in 09. This was a prebuilt Gateway dx4820. The ram are: 2X Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 pc3 10600u-09-10-B0 (m378b5673EH1-CH9 0926) and 2X Samsung 1GB 1Rx8 PC3 10600u-09-10-a0 (m378b2873eh1-CH9 0927). The new ram is Ballistix sport 2GB DDr3 1600UDIM (bls2g3d1609ds1s00 649528756039). I checked in the bios and auto remapping is on. For the Bios, I've found a few newer versions (newest being from 2010 I think) but I don't understand how to install it. I'll also add (if it's important) that I have an Evga 500watts 80+ White installed and a gt730 ddr5 2GB graphics card... the fact that the mobo can run a ddr5 graphics card and not a newer ram is baffling.

Ram on your GPU is different from the RAM you drop in on your motherboard.

The first issue is you trying to mix and match your rams. I've said it's bad practice since you need to look at ram upgrades similar to what you'd do when you'd loose one of your shoes out of a pair. You can find the same pair at the retail outlet but the sales man wont sell you just one. You're going to have to buy a pair. Likewise since your board has 4 ram slots, you're going to have to go for a 4xYGB kit.

Then there's the issue of not understanding how to update the BIOS. If you don't know what you're doing it's best you step back since a bricked board would only result in more hair tugging. What version are you on currently and what version have you found? Using the wrong BIOS = hair tugging time.

Now I'll also need the SKU to your system. Some search results lead to other spec'd dx4820's with a 2 digit number separated by a -

Once we figure out which motherboard you have and the maximum capacity of ram it can handle is when you can make further progress. Haphazardly buying things wont solve it if your board's limited to DDR3-1333 due to the BIOS. On another note, with only your single stick of Crucial ram, did you try in each slot? You can't mix it with other sticks in your inventory.

I know that the mobo can take 8gb max. I actually ordered 4X2GB ballistix sports but 6GB was in another shipment that I havent received yet. I tried on a couple of slots and they all just beeped (without the old ram). I checked the instructions for the bios update and they they to acces the tools from the D: drive and it says it's not available. This is the info I found http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/v1-1-acer-g45t-g43t-am3-motherboard-specs/. Running windows 10 x64 btw.

You're on an AMI BIOS and here are the beep codes. You're sure you're on BIOS revision P01.A1? If so, the latest BIOS on the Acer's support site(link you posted earlier) has P01.A3 and P01.A3L. You should update your BIOS while using only your 2X Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 pc3 10600u-09-10-B0 (m378b5673EH1-CH9 0926) sticks of ram so as to avoid any issues.

Instruction son how to update your BIOS are provided in the zip file which you're required to download.

Just updated it to A3L... still same problem with the ram. Tried the Ballistix by itself and in every slot (while resetting every time) and all I get is a non-stop beep. I even tried to boot without ram to see what it would do and it did the same thing. I guess I'll just wait for the other ram to arrive tomorrow and try those... there are stories about doa ram sticks so let's hope it's just that. Also, the instructions were pretty bad as they were missing an important part... having to copy on to a dvd or a fat32 usb drive. I kind of connected the dots as I've done this a couple of times with a windows 10 bootable usb (when the computer didn't want to boot windows and I had to install it with the usb)
