the Phenom is probably a tad faster but why are you looking into these? do you already have a AM3+ motherboard?

Yep. I have a Gigabyte M68MT-S2 (rev 3.1) which is a AM3+ motherboard. Will get a GTX 1050 Ti soon so need a budget upgrade from my old Athlon!

FX-6120

These cpus probably perform very comparable to each other. However, the 6120 has updated instruction sets.
