I want to get into 4k gaming. My goal is to have 60 fps. The in game settings can be low because I prioritize high frame rate over ultra settings. I also have a 1080p monitor that I want to use for multitasking in conjunction with the 4k monitor that I will get. I've got a budget of $1000 (monitor has its own budget) but I can spend more if you think it is worth it.

My current build
MOBO: evga x58 sli motherboard
GPU: nvidia gtx 960 ssc 4gb
CPU: Intel I7-975 extreme edition overclocked to 3.62 GHz
RAM: 12gb (3x4) ddr3 1600 gskill ripjaws
PSU: Antec 520w

I will be buying a gtx 1080(ti) on black friday, and was wondering if I should replace the rest of my build as well. I think my psu can stay for sure but I don't know if I can keep anything else and achieve the performance that I'm looking for. Any suggestions on parts to replace or deals would make me very grateful.

I have another $500 for a 4k monitor and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if I should wait till black friday.

Yeah the PSU would need a change but we don't know the exact model number for it. It should be entire system should be about 7 years old, correct, if so then the PSU's effective will be reduced. If you do decide to upgrade, I'd suggest setting aside 2000USD for a new Coffeelake build(including the GPU).

You didn't include the make and model of your chassis. That would be critical of how and what you put inside your system.

This is my case: http://a.co/6iT698k
and this is my psu: http://a.co/4y88NEK
You are right though, everything is around 7 years old except for the ram and gpu which are both around 2 years old. I don't have the money to go for a coffeelake build at the moment, but do you think I could make do with the 1080 until I upgrade everything else? In about a month I'll have another 1000USD that I could use to spend on a coffeelake build.
