I got a new hdmi cable and is going to connect the hdmi from my laptop to the tv. However, the plug takes difficulty and is very stiff to get it through. I tried this with my previous hdmi cable and it just seems the click in. Is there anything wrong with this cable?

I'm not sure what you expect someone here to say. YOU are the one with the HDMI cable. If it's too stiff to use then don't use it.
I'm not sure if it will work better on the HDTV side, or maybe you can even bend/crimp it slightly to fit better? No idea.
