I have an HP P7-1277c machine that I have just installed WIN10 (64bit) on. When installing a new GPU I realized that I needed a BIOS update that was provided by HP for WIN8 (64bit). This is BIOS update 8.17. Because I have WIN10 installed, I am unable to update my BIOS as they do not have any files do download for WIN10. How do I update my BIOS to 8.17, which will allow me to install my new GPU?

Solution
Try running it on Windows 8 Compatibility mode. If you right click on the file and go to properties, Compatability, then select windows 8.

After downloading the file (on hp's support page the only options for OS are WIN7 or WIN8 so i selected WIN8 (64bit)...WIN10 is NOT an option) the file extracts and begins to install. Halfway through the install it says that we are not running the correct version of windows for this update.
