Wireless AP Can´t Connect to the Internet

Hello, I have a Tenda A30 wireless AP in the lower floor of my house. I have a wire run through the wall to the upper floor, where my Arris TG862 is. The problem is the wireless AP doesn´t get an internet connection. It sometimes does, but it just randomly drops (shows an exclamation mark and No Internet Connection in Android). The thing is, if I connect a laptop or a computer with an ethernet cable to the same outlet in the lower floor where the AP is connected, it connects to the Internet without a problem. I think it is either one of the two problems:
1) There is a setting in either the Tenda AP or the Arris TG862 that couses problems (keep in mind I have tried factory reseting both, without any success)
2) The cable that runs through the walls wasn´t made right. I had a friend here who put the connectors on the cable. Is it possible he didn´t arange the wires in the right way? How can I tell if they are wrong?

Any of your suggestions are gladly apreciated!

Using 2 pairs (4 cores) would only give you a maximum of 100 BaseT, it should however still work as long as the orange and green wires are connected correctly (pins 1+2) and green (pins 3+6). You need to check both back plates in the wall and ensure these pins are connected straight through.
Cabling could be an issue and be intermittent, AP's are layer 2 devices so should work regardless of IPconfig (although you wouldn't be able to manage them), I would re-terminate the ends. The AP should really only have an IP address and gateway IP (your router) to function.

I did check the cable on one end (the end where the Arris modem is) and the cable is in the Straight configuration. Would rather check evertyhing first before re-terminating them

The crimping can be done poorly, it isn't as simple as just the order of the pairs. Other than that the setup should be quite straight forward.

A little update, I think I found the problem. The couble from the Arris AP to the wall outlet only has 4 wires. It came with the AP so I immidietly though it would work. It now works, but am not sure if it will drop again. Can that be the problem of it all?
