Good Morning, I have been having this issue with my drives, my I and J drives keep switching after every re-start, it is expecially frustrating when certain games are installed on a certain letter drive because the computer can't find the game. I for the life of me cannot find an answer anywhere as to why this happens...anyone know a reason? They are plugged into sata 3 intel z97 chipset and one is plugged into the Marvel chipset, I'm thinking could the different chipsets cause a back and forth? I Have a gigabyte z97x gaming MB Crucial SSd's, my bios is upto date windows 10 64 bit, ect..anyone?

Mine used to do this. I think it has to do with whichever drive spins up first gets the first letter.
I manually assigned my drives letters farther down the alphabet, like U and V.

procedure should be identical on newer versions of windows

Ok, tried assigning just one drive to Z, and restarted, it went back to J, I did just one of the drives thinking I may be able to save from moving that one and reinstalling my games, so, went the hard way and formatted them and the format didn't work on either drive, messed around in disk management, formatted there messed around with a bunch of configs,...crazy but for some how and way I got the disks formatted and assigned them x and z made them simple drives and formatted again, and well for now, they seem to be staying in the position I am assigning them, I do believe what happened I tried a raid configuration to them a long time ago and well, I tried to stop them from doing that and don't think the raid configuration completely reset itself so, thanks on the advice on assigning the disks...don't think I would have thought of assigning the drives..but led me to the conclusion that they still may have had raid config??? wtf knows but I think its done figured out...just have to reinstall my games on the drives and I think the problem will be resolved!!! thank you
