Only half my ram available... what?

so i've just put together an old budget build kinda thing and ive slapped in a 4x2gb kit of ddr3 and booted up. But all's not that simple in my life is it.

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 3.49 GB

..help?

OS:

A link to your ram kit would help. You should also make sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date.

already figured it out lmfao. ive accidentally installed 32bit windows.. which only happens to support up to 3.5gb. god im an idiot

time to reinstall windows ugh
