I have been planning a PC build for a short while now, and recently my budget has increased hence putting a better build together. The build will be in January and will be my first FULL build. The purpose of the PC will be predominantly Video editing, Photoshop, I'm also venturing into learning website building as well as I will be doing gaming and live streams as well as VR (Oculus Rift)

I am looking for speed, a build that can handle multiple applications simultaneously (video rendering, Gaming, watching videos, Live streaming to Youtube / Faceboo / Twitch)

I will be looking to OC at some point, but I am not desperate to OC immediately and have never done it before.

My budget is circa. £1300-£1400. I only have monitors capable of 1080p at the moment but am looking to upgrade both monitors to 4k Monitors over the next 12 months and don't want to have to upgrade.

I would be able to go slightly over budget if absolutely necessary but would like to keep it near £1300.

I have gone for a Ryzen 7 1700 due to its 8 cores / 16 threads which I have been advised would be the best option for multiple applications.
Also opted for GTX 1080 as not a huge difference in price from the 1070, and I will eventually look to upgrade monitors to support 4k.
Gone for Fractal Design Define R5 case, my case goes under the PC and I am not fussed about a colour matching interior.. the case looks nice and spacious and easy access to storage bays (front facing - don't know why but i like the storage bays facing the front)

PSU - I think 650W will be enough - I am running the following build, plus 2 monitors, a Condenser Mic (AT2020USB), Webcam, Audio Interface and Headphones.. plus an Oculus Rift and I don't kno how much power these draw.

Are there any improvements that can be made to this or does it seem up to scratch?

overclocking 8 cores ryzen on less than X370 with good VRM is a bad idea. this processor clocked at ~4GHz will require ~1.4v for stable operation.
that's about 100A going through the VRM. So a basic VRM like on this board will be able to do so for few minutes, but eventually will overheat. This will cause instability and system shutdowns at least.

I'd recommend to get at least 500GB SSD so it ill hold all programs and games. I suggest looking the deals on black friday. last year the Crucial MX300 was 99$ for 750GB on amazon. It is in the same class (performance and reliability) as 850EVO. getting it in advance is a good idea.

And final touch, since you are going to overclock, the 1070Ti might be a better idea. much cheaper while doing...
It is fine build. If you were looking for aggressive OC, I would consider upgrading motherboard to X370, but since you don't need it, B350 will do just fine. 650 W PSU is actually even more then you need, but there's no harm to have it, since this PSU has long warranty, you have headroom for more power-hungry GPU in the future.

And final touch, since you are going to overclock, the 1070Ti might be a better idea. much cheaper while doing within 5% difference from 1080 at much lower cost. On 60Hz monitor (4K are 60Hz for now) under 5% is under 3FPS difference. but you can save about 50 pounds.

I'd really suggest to look at Define S or Even better Define Meshify C as they have same look, same price , but much better airflow which helps to have lower temps at lower noise.

The rest seems to be fine.
Anyway, things change over time. so post again before you actually going to buy
