Could a defected GPU slow down a new system

I've recenrtly started saving up for a new system;
CPU: i7 7700k
GPU: 1080 ti strix
Mobo: z270e strix
Cooler: kraken 62 nzxt
Ram: 32gb tridentz rbg
Psu: 750w EVGA 80+

I have everything bought but the GPU. As it will take 4 or 5 more weeks for me to save up for the GPU I was considering building the PC with my old systems card temporarily (a 3gb gtx1060) to keep myself entertained until I can afford it.

As this build is pretty expensive I don't want to risk ANY chances of an old GPU ruining the system. Is there any at all possibility that the GPU could possibly carry any viruses at all, or anything that could slow down a new system?

I don't think the old system is infected, there's nothing to indicate this, it's just that I haven't renewed AV on it in a few months and I'd rather be safe than sorry,
Many thanks,
Eoin.

No,your GTX 1060 won't damage anything.

Build your PC,and then when you take your new GPU replace it. Great build overall :)

Ιndeed,If you could send them back 32GB of RAM are a lot. If you could get the money back and go for the 16GB and get your 1080Ti it would be cool.

I did not say that, since i though you have opened them and stuff. In my country since you open them, they do not accept them back.

32GB of ram? What's the purpose of this build.
If purely for gaming, then 32GB is serious overkill.

Old graphics card should not damage anything (unless it's defective).
