New build in the making, got a few bits when the prices dropped a bit recently. 7700k cpu, msi gtx 1070 gaming z, msi z270 gaming m6 ac motherboard.

Not particularly experience at testing components straight out of the box.

Installed cpu and cpu cooler (Noctua NH-D15) to motherboard, connected to psu (EVGA SuperNOVA 750w G1, 80+ GOLD) and powered on. No error codes, no beeps (if the board has a speaker in the first place not really sure) even though no RAM installed which I found weird. So went ahead and installed 1070. Again, everything powers up fine but no error codes or beeps for no RAM. Plug in a hdmi cable for 1070, no signal on the monitor.

I then remove everything leaving just the motherboard and psu. Power up, all the lights come on but no beeps or error codes.

I currently have the 1070 running on my current system, no issues thus far. The PSU I took out from this machine, so thats not the issue.

I have a distinct feeling the board is faulty rather than the cpu, if its something I did or missing please say to save me from having to RMA the board.

Haven't got any ddr4, for some reason thought I could just take ddr3 out of this machine but no.

Wouldn't the board have produced some sort of error code even at the point of it just being motherboard and nothing else?

Got it all running in the end. Looks like at the time I hadn't plugged in the cpu to power.

Ran into another issue stopping output but that was due to the monitor not being set to show the hdmi output.

Thanks for the help, particularly the LED warning light bit. Made me actually look into and check those lights.
