I need help , i can access any site but i cant connect to servers like steam or download torrents or some games like agar.io

So i stay in a students building where i m using the university internet . I m connected thru a cable and i thing they use a proxy server . On my computer the internet icon has a warning sign and says "No internet access" , i can access any site(and download form browser) but i cant connect to servers like steam or download torrents or some games like agar.io which can be played through browser . I tried to use some VPN services but when i try them and i want to enter on a site even the browser lose it connection .
Is there any way i can fix it ?

Pretty much a proxy only does browser traffic. Things like steam or many games use direct connections on different ports.

If your school is ok with vpn that should solve your problem. You likely installed it incorrectly. If the IT guys are ok with vpn they should be able to give you some basic help on setting it up.
