Couple of weeks ago my old hard drive (wd blue 500gb 5400rpm) started making weird noises, so i decided to buy a new one. Around that time (when my hard drive started failing) I also got another problem: my pc wouldn't turn on at first try, it just booted for 2 secs then restarted couple of times and only then started running. It didn't happen every single time but more often than not.
I also checked hdd for errors and it already had bad sectors.
Today my new hdd (wd blue 1tb 7200rpm) finally arrived. I installed the new hard drive and started the pc to install windows and other stuff but pc again refused to boot properly and kept restarting, this time it took like 6-7 restarts and then finally booted and i managed to install windows.
After that, windows downloaded/installed some updates and i had to restart the pc. And guess what? Same problem again, it takes like 10 maybe even more attempts to boot pc and i gave up thinking that it's too risky for the whole system. I switched back to old drive to find a solution for my problem.
My biggest guess is that main cause of the problem has to be my shitty psu. It's 285w and not even 80+ (please don't ask why, i had very little idea how PCs work at that time). I'm wondering could replacement of a hard drive make such difference in power supply? Or maybe it's actually faulty hdd? I know it's very unlikely but still. Should I just buy a new, proper PSU or there's something else to consider? Here are my pc details:
Windows 10 pro
i5 2500(non k) 3.3 ghz
6gb RAM (1333mhz) (4+2)
GTS 450 1gb
Asrock h61icafe
WD blue 500 gb (old), wd blue 1tb (new)
285W garbage psu
