My mic wasnt working (i tested numerous mics) so i tried resetting the driver, making sure it wasnt muted, ect. So i bought a usb to mic/headphone jack, just in case it was the port that was broken, and that didnt fix it. Any other ideas?

Solution
I'm not sure you can fix this problem. Many people report the same problem as you, trying to run Window 10 on the "HP Pavilion 500-189", or it's motherboard the "MSI MS-7778 (JasmineR). In Window 10 the "IDT High Definition Audio" chip stops working, but they are not sure why. In the end your best answer may be to just buy an inexpensive PCIe audio card, instead of trying to fix the IDT High Definition Audio. I have no more suggestions for you, sorry.

Volume 100, not muted.

Try plugging a microphone back into the microphone jack, then check in "Control Panel > Sound > Recording" again.

nothin'.

Just to be clear your saying the microphone does not appear in "Recording Devices", or your not getting any sound?

It is set as the default device.

Here is something i've seen in other forums that you can try;

1. Select "IDT High Definition Audio" CODEC in "Device Manager > Sound,video and game controllers".
2. Right click and select "Properties". Then select the "Driver" tab.
3. Click Update Driver... button.
4. Select -> Browse my computer for driver software.
5. Select -> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
6. Select "High Definition Audio Device" (Not IDT High Definition... this is important) and click Next.
Warning message appears, but reply Yes.
7. ! Windows has successfully updated your driver software.

Key is step 6.
