Watch Dogs keeps crashing.

I updates Windows 10 yesterday and after that Watch Dogs started crashing. It usually says "Watch Dogs stopped working" and then I have to press a million keys to get it to close the window. Today it just froze and refused to work, so I had no option but to restart my PC. I'll try reinstalling the game later if I have no other choice, but is there any other way to fix it?

Okay, yesterday didn't crash. As for antivirus, I have an expired version of NOD32, some pop ups appear from time to time but it didn't appear to be running in the background. And I disabled Malwarebytes because apparently it was running on startup. Other than that I have nothing else running. Guess I'll keep playing and see what happens.
Maybe try W7 compatibility mode if you haven't. I think the Fall Creators update is causing various problems with some people. Lately I get this weird thing where my Start button isn't interactive after rebooting, and I have to sign out then back in. When I do I see a error saying Task Host Window is blocking background programs. The signing out then in fixes it though, and it takes less than 10 seconds.

The weird thing is, sometimes after rebooting the Start button works fine, but usually it doesn't. I was hoping the update that installed yesterday fixed it, because the Start button worked fine after it installed, but then it did it again the next reboot. Friggin MS monkeys don't have a clue what they're doing. BTW, this started happening right after reinstalling the OS, and I used the exact same method I always do, so it's not likely OS corruption, and sys file scans verify that.

I just wanna play some games :(

I also tried Watch Dogs 2 and it crashed even quicker than the first one. I want to die.

If they're Steam copies, did you try verifying the game file cache in Steam? It basically checks for missing or corrupt game files and re-downloads and installs them from their master copy on their server.

They're both directly from uPlay. Can I also do that with them?

I already did the scannow thingy because this update messed up some of my programs, and it found nothing. As for the games, I scanned the files and both seem to be fine. I'm updating the GPU drivers right now, apparently that damn program doesn't notify me when there's updates anymore, so I always forget. I hope that fixes the problem.

In some games you also need to make sure you install the Visual Studio and Dx updates in the redist folder, but in checking my WD2 game directory, there appear to be no such files. Something's amiss though.

I used TheWorse performance mod for WD1, which worked quite well. Didn't have to mod WD2, only problem I had with it was it was a bit laggy for 30-40 seconds when the game first loaded, but then it ran fine.

I don't recall you mentioning your sys spec, are you sure you meet the hardware requirements?

Yeah, Ryzen 5 1600, R9 380, 16 GB RAM, etc.. besides it's a pretty old game and it's been running very smoothly. It's just weird because it's not the only game that crashes.

Okay, so I updated my GPU drivers and I've been able to play several hours. However, it did crash once, but it took like 2 hours before it did.

If you're running any background programs, try disabling them one at a time to see if one of them is causing problems. Including 3rd party AV and FW tools.
