Hey All,

So I have been struggling with this upgrade question for a while. I am looking for the best bang for the buck graphics card. I have been searching but nothing has taken the upcoming black friday (BF) deals into account. I want to get a rift for $350 on BF and I know I need to upgrade from my old HD 7870 to run it. Here are the exact cards and deals I am considering:

MSI - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB
will be $400 on BF.

MSI - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB DUKE this is the newest card and is $470 right now.

Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB TURBO this card is $500 right now and comes with Assassins Creed Origins and Destiny 2.

I want to upgrade the rest of my pc over the next year when the coffee lake cpu's and RAM prices are closer to normal. I am also hoping to switch to a 1440p monitor soon as well. I usually go by a ~$100 a year graphics card budget so I won't look to upgrade that again for 4-5 years if thats possible.

My current specs are listed below:

i5-4670k (stock)
Asrock Z97 Ex. 6
Corsair - Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Asus - Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card
Rosewill - Hive 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Corsair - Carbide 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case.
Asus - VS238H-P 23.0" 1920x1080 Monitor

I appreciate your help,

The 1070ti is a bad choice right now because of the price, might as well just get a 1080. The 1070 is an excellent card for 1080p and 1440p gaming but the 1080 will most def last you the longest for gaming.

Thanks for the reply. I was a little nervous about that 1080 Turbo being 1 fan blower style cooling. I have heard that the blower styles can have cooling issues. Also I only have about $650 right now and the more expensive graphics card would push back me upgrading the CPU/Mobo/RAM. Is it still the best way to go?

Never had a blower style so I can't comment, I always buy EVGA SuperCocked cards.

You may want to do the fastest 1070ti you can find on sale (you can apparently then overclock them more and get almost 1080 performance) and then put whats left towards the rest of your upgrades.

Again its a tough call, GPU prices are messed up right now.

I know. I keep hoping that a 1070 will be like $375 or a 1080 will be $475 to help make my decision easier. Should I just wait until prices come down, whenever that will be?
