Hello all,
I know that tons of people already asked questions related to different MHz and different Voltage, I know that mixing the exact same version of ram might not work and that mixing different rams are even worse but I am now asking about the best option available
I have Kingston HyperX FURY Blue 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 1.5v but currently I cant find another of the same, the available options atm are 8GB DDR3 rams with different MHz or different Voltage so I want to know which is better for me.
also there is a low chance of finding Kingston ValueRAM 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 1.5V would that be the best option if I found it or not ? and in case I couldn't find it, what should I do ?

Solution
If have to get a single module, try to match the frequency first to get maximum memory performance. Lower voltage memory at 1.35 V will run at higher voltage of 1.5 V if mixed with another memory module rated at 1.5 V.

Best option would be to get a 2 x 8 GB dual channel kit. The modules within the kit are guaranteed to be compatible and they will run at the same frequency and voltage.

But if still wanting to get only one module in an attempt to match the existing module, then be prepared to try several other modules also, as there is a chance there might be inter-module incompatibility when trying separate modules.

how will the 1.35 V run at 1.5 V ? will that happen automatically or I have to do it manually from bios ? I have MSI Z97 MB, also why didn't you recommend the Kingston ValueRAM 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 1.5V ?

1.35 V DDR3 memory modules will automatically run up to 1.5 V to match the higher voltage rating of the other module at 1.5 V.

Any single module (regardless of brand and model/part number) trying to be used with an existing module is not the best option due to the possibility of inter-module incompatibility. Then again the single module might be compatible with the existing module.

The point is that some other single modules might have to be tried with the existing module until a compatible combination is found.

You can try the ValueRAM module and see if it is compatible with the existing module. If that ValueRAM module doesn't work with the existing module, then try another ValueRAM module . . and so on until a compatible combination is found.
