Hey everyone! I'm looking for a new build that will crush PUBG. I'm looking to start streaming so I want a PC that will run it smoothly on max settings. I'd like to say under 1200 if that's possible. Please if someone can help me out that would be great. Black Friday is coming up so maybe I can get this thing ordered then.

Please let me know what parts to get and a brief explanation of why those are the ones to get. I'd like it to be geared around PUB G as that's what I'll play the most. Thanks again!

I prefer Nvidea for the card I'd think, and I know some of them have things where you can capture clips/record yourself, etc. Something like that might be awesome for streaming.

Side note: If I do stream, I'll probably use the PC i have now if that's possible. I'm not really sure what all it entails yet to be honest. So that won't need to be factored into this build.

Solution

Actually PUBG is both CPU and GPU demanding.

The i5 I picked is a 6 core CPU, if you want an i7 then you can add it, that would be 6 core 12 thread.

The MB is fine, no need to spend a zillion bucks on a MB.

Here it is with an I7, better motherboard and GTX 1080.

CPU: Intel -...
Slightly more than $1200, but it will handle PUBG, you need a machine to handle that game at max settings.

Things I've been reading say to go with an i7 over an i5? Seems like this game is mostly processor based or GPU based?

Seems like you both went with the GTX 1070, but isn't there a 1080 that's better right now?

Also, you both picked the same MOBO, is there a reason for this? It's only $100, is there a better one? I could put more than 1200 into it if needed.

Thanks so much!!!

Solution
PUBG recommended system requirements

OS: 64-bit Windows 10
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5-1600 / Intel Core i5-7600K
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB or better

Not sure where you got your information.
After the patches, it seems to have balanced out on cpu and gpu... http://steamcommunity.com/games/578080/announcements/detail/646671482148934992

The mobo doesnt matter when you build it for a singular intention specifically. If you want a better setup, then this should do...

Note: You wont need 12 threads of i7 to crush PUBG after the game has been patched extensively. Most of the posts you have read must be from before Coffee Lake release.

PUBG is still under Early Access so it's not finalized yet.

Hopefully in the next month or two it will be done.

Most people are still playing on low settings because it's not optimized yet.

There was something in the PUBG site that said they are working on Optimizations now and should be out next week.

A patch I suppose.

Oh, there will be a difference in performance in PUBG between an i5 and i7.

Not sure what will happen once they get it finished, I doubt that will change though very much however.

It's still going to be a high resource game.

You need to go through the patch notes in that link... http://steamcommunity.com/games/578080/announcements/detail/646671482148934992

Since its initial release it has been extensively optimized. You dont need a i7 to play ultra. The 8600k should do it pretty fine. Along with the 1080 build i listed above you will get adequately what you are wanting from that game.

Jankerson said "Oh, there will be a difference in performance in PUBG between an i5 and i7."

I want to run the game extremely well. (an extra 500 worth it?)

A streamer has:
ASUS ROG Strix GD30 w/ Intel Core i7-6700K Processor 4.2 GHz (4.6 GHz), 32 GB Ram, GTX1080

Is this just 10x the overkill, or is he still making use of the more powerful parts?
I feel the better the rig, the better you perform, and I want to be competitive with the best.

Side question:
Would I be able to run this on a TV? Such as https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1345115-REG/vizio_m50_e1_smartcast_m_series_50.html
This wouldn't be for when I'm doing competition, but just for fun. Would it look decent or possibly even good? What resolution would the game/tv use? Is there a better TV (under 800) that would be better suited for it that is also HDR? Might be out of your area of expertise but worth a shot to make a semi-educated decision.

Thanks again!

The difference will be like every other game out there. Clock speed vs core scaling.
If you want the absolute best, go with 8700k and 1080ti combo, if you can afford it.
You can run it on any TV you want, as long as you can bear the input lag. The main issue with TV is the response time, specially with esports games.

So... i'm going along with one of these builds in the next few days.
I want a nice UHD tv to play with Apple TV. (This one seems compatible)

I already did a bunch of research and ended up with a TV that is decent as a TV for movies/HDR stuff, but also has low input lag, as that's what everyone said is important for games.

This one has low input lag one one HDMI port per: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/p-series-xled-2017

Under inputs and input lag there is:
The Vizio P can play almost any content, including HDR. It has excellent low input lag for SDR content, but only okay input lag for HDR content

Excellent low input lag for SDR content, but only okay input lag for HDR content. HDMI port 5 is a low bandwidth port that doesn't support HDR, but has much lower input lag than the other ports, making it excellent for SDR gaming. We conducted all tests on HDMI ports 1, 2 and 5: ports 1 and 2 have identical input lag within variance, but port 5 has much lower lag for all resolutions that it can support, including 4k @ 60 Hz @ 4:2:0.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-55-Class-4K-2160P-Smart-XLED-Home-Theater-Display-P55-E1/673878344

But, what does all this really mean? PUB-G would be considered "SDR" right?
What do the 4:4:4 mean? or is that only for movies/UHD stuff?

I'm just curious as to how well my 1070/1080 is going to act with all this thing? Am I making the right choice or would the http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c7-oled be that much better for $700 more?
Seems like the C7 has a lot of downside when just watching normal (low res) stuff but maybe it wouldn't be that bad? The Sony seems like it has some features that would allow me to watch the stuff on my External HD as well and make it look more decent, as well as 700 less.

I've already ordered it but should have asked here first. I can return if i made a mistake! My goal isn't to play pug g on this TV most the time, but i would like to be able to do it well, if it's possible. Thanks!

Side note: I'm also unsure of what resolution I will be running pub g on with my 1080 on both my computer screen (23 Dell ultra sharp IPS, but i might get something bigger with low response time and Gsync) - and my TV screen? Is there a resolution that works best for the game (hit boxes and such)? ----- I really appreciate the help from everyone!

> PUBG is not fully optimized yet even after several patches.

> A TV is not ideal for playing fast paced/esports titles like these. You are only going for the refresh rate and ignoring the response time.

> You need to read this... https://pubgsettings.com/pubg-best-settings/

The TV is 120 Hz with 1080p @ 120 Hz : 12.2 ms ( so 12 ms response time running 1080p) .. is Pub-G running 1080p? Wouldn't this at least be good enough to play with?

I ended up going with Jankerson's build and it runs perfectly at the moment. I think the features of the GPU and the Motherboard are nice too. PubG actually plays extremely well on the Vizio at 1080 and 120 Hz. There is hardly any stutter at all and looks great to me. I'll end up getting a 144 Hz monitor soon as my primary. Should I look into something with GSync? Not sure if my card supports it as I just haven't had to worry about it yet.
