I know that alot of people probably asked the same thing but it's my turn I guess..
My system specs are :
FX-6300
8gb ddr3
corsair CX550m
ASUS M5A78L-M le
stock CPU cooler
GTX 1050 2gb

Now the reason I want to upgrade isn't low fps.
Firstly , the games I play are Rust, H1Z1 and planning to play the new Assassin's creed games which need a good cpu.
my main problem with my system is that I never get a consistent FPS and even tho my game can achieve 70+ fps on low settings I still get a lot of FPS drops especially when any gunfights start happening .

I was thinking that the best thing I could do now is upgrade to a ryzen 3 1200 which I will have to get a new mobo/ram for.
Or maybe its the GPU causing this due to the low Vram.
What do you think my next upgrade path should be ?

Solution
Something like this would work good for now until your ready to upgrade your GPU. Also AMD is sticking with the AM4 socket until 2020 which gives you a few years to upgrade as well which is nice.

If your gaming at 1080P (or less) then I would definently go with the CPU/MB/RAM upgrade first as gaming utilizes strong cores and the 1200 is much better then that 6300.

You should be able to overclock the 1200 (B350 motherboard) a bit as well with the stock Wraith cooler and get a little bit more performance. I'd also overclock that GPU and see if that helps, there's plenty of guides out there.

Firstly, thanks for the answer.
And will there be a slight bottleneck when I pair a ryzen 3 with a 1060 ?

Well if I would afford a 1300x wouldn't it be wiser to grab a ryzen 5 1400 instead :p ?

If you can give us an idea of your budget then we can tweak the list better.
