Could you actually make a NVMe a flash drive? It might be a bit bigger and require usb 3.0 for best speeds but would it work?
Yes the pins on a nvme ssd is for a pci slot not usb but someone could wire up a adapter to make it usb. It could make flash drives have 1tb cap. to it
Another note, There might have to be some sort of mini psu or batteries on it.

Well external enclosures exist for the SATA variety M.2, so theoretically, NVMe should be an option too.
Enclosures for PCIe/NVMe drives don't appear to exist (or they're very rare), but that's for a reason - and not that it just can't be done.

The max theoretical speeds over PCIe x4 are either 16Gb/s (Gen2) or 32Gb/s (3.0)...... when you then restrict those drives to USB3.0/3.1, you're limiting them to a max theoretical speed of ~10Gb/s.

USB3.2 doubles the theoretical speed to ~20Gb/s, but that's only sufficient for NVMe drives utilizing PCIe 2.0 x4.
