Should I be looking to replace my i5 3570 soon? Planning on upgrading some parts (gpu, ram and storage mostly), but was wondering if i could salvage this cpu and its board and save a little $

Solution
That i5 should be enough for what you're doing unless you use GB size spreadsheets in excel...
For games a decent 3D graphics card is most important and your CPU should be enough to handle pretty much any game today provided the graphics card is fast enough.
You won't get much for it in the used market so probably not worth trying to part out. The i5-3570 still has plenty of processing power... Older generation being Ivy Bridge, but the clock speed of 3.4GHz / 3.8GHz turbo is still respectable. Are you seeing performance problems?
