Guys, my company recently got some PC from auction. Now as I am checking one of those drive I am confused about available free storage space. Here is the scenario.

OS: win7 ultimate
There is only 1 partition in this drive(for system 100MB and the rest makes C drive)
My computer says: 21.4/148 GB is free
When I go inside and check the property of all the folders(while its showing the hidden files) it says its taking 26.6 GB
When I checked how much space its consuming for system restore point, its only 2.5 GB.

I installed tuneup utilities in hope to figure out what type of file is consuming the space. But its of no help. Its content tab says 18% is used where its overview tab says 86% of space used.

I would really appreciate if you point me the right direction to find out what is really going on here.

Solution
Google and install 'TreeSize Free' program. It can scan volume C:\ and show you all your folders and files with their size.
