I recently replaced my faulty cpu cooler on my computer with a saphire vapour-x. When I first installed it I used too much thermal paste and it cause my system to short circuit. I then cleaned down my cpu and applied new thermal paste, this fixed the circuiting issue but now my computer is is booting up fine yet providing no output what so ever. There is no display to my monitor and my keyboard won't light up. Im fair certain electricty is being fed to them as when I unplug my monitor it flashes "no signal" but when I plug it in again it goes back to stand by mode. further more my mouse is lighting up just as it always would(regardless of whether my pc is turned on). I've tried reseting my CMOS, removing my ram then placing it back in a different channel and placing the cooler back on again with fresh thermal paste.
My computer:
i7 4790k
16GB of crucial ram
GTX 970
ASUS Z97-A mobo
750W PSU

Solution
You may need to remove you cpu and check (Depending if amd or intel) check the pins on cpu/mobo to ensure none of them are broken or bent. That can be one issue.

Another could be that something else in the system was damaged by the short circuit you mentioned, whether that is overvolting components or just damaging the motherboard itself. If you have any spare components you know work then swap them out to check if you can see which components are broken.

Other than that I am afriad you may have broken it.
