Is It Safe To Turn On A Newly Shipped PC??

Hi! I just purchased a new computer from BestBuy and had it shipped to my house. It sat in a truck overnight (in cold weather, around 30 degrees F during the night) and was just delivered to my house. My father mentioned it's possible that if I turn it on too soon after receiving it, it could short something out. I was wondering if it was true, and if I should do anything special before turning it on when I get off of work. (I apologize if this is in the wrong category)

as Mjslakeridge said the side panel and a fan would expedite things.

the little moisture packs that should come with the system can be left on the bottom of the PC during the drying process and until you are sure its dry.

should not be an issue. if the system was shipped in a retail package it will have a moisture absorb-er inside and that will prevent any damage that could occur do due to high humidity/condensation as the temperatures change.

to be doubly sure unpack the computer and leave in ambient for an hour, then turn on. allow it a little time then turn on, the heat it generates will take care of the rest

@ R_1 would it help to have the side panel off when letting it reach room temperature??
@ SR-41 Thanks! :)

One way or another, I plan on unboxing it tonight after I get off, I just wanted to get some input on the situation.
