I am wanting to install security cameras at my home. I want them connected to my internet. I have a cable modem connected to a wifi router in the living room. I want to run the cables from the cameras into another room opposite the living room. Can I connect the camera's dvr to a secondary Wi-Fi router in the bedroom and have that router wirelessly connect to modem in living room using the same network? Or would the dvr's Ethernet cable have to be plugged directly into router that's connected to modem in living room? Just want to keep it simple.

Solution
I you have the option of running a cable from the main router to the location the dvr is in I would go that route. If you need multiple ethernet ports buy a small switch.

A router by default only talks to end user devices it does not talk to another router. Some routers do have the feature but it is mostly on devices called "extenders" or "repeaters". The actual functions technical name is called client-bridge. Using this method is much more complex to setup that just running a ethernet cable.
