I want to upgrade my sons computer from I5 3570 with asus b75 plus motherboard. I am going to replace it with a ryzen 1500x and asrock ab350 pro4. The current set up has the free upgrade to windows 10. I Have the disk with windows 7. how can I keep windows 10 after changing motherboard and cpu

#1 - Tie a Microsoft account to the copy of Windows 10 on the current computer - https://www.windowscentral.com/how-re-activate-windows-10-after-hardware-change
#2 - Download a copy of Windows 10 from Microsoft and create a bootable USB drive - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
#3 - Fresh install Windows and it should automatically activate when you enter the Microsoft account from step 1

Download latest revision of Win10 from microsft website (using their tool to load it on a USB thumbdrive. This will be the install disk)
One hardwae installed ensure in BIOS that USB is a boot option.
Once installed contact Microsoft if you have licence verification problems.

I had same issue coming from Win8.1 with the free upgrade. The Win8.1 product key isnt applicable to Win10 & had to contact to get a new key (no charge).

This is the easiest path: "..Tie a Microsoft account to the copy of Windows 10 on the current computer.." as noted above. Do this before you shutdown the old PC.
