What port to plug water block into for best performance?

i have a gigabyte z170x gaming 5 rev 1.1 and i was wondering what port i should plug my water block into. i currently have it plugged into the cpu_opt port and my fan on the cpu_fan. im not sure if i have them in the right spots. but the reason i am wondering this is because i was reading that you should always have the pump running and on the gigabyte app center it shows that sometimes it might not be running. any tips would help! thanks! https://i.imgur.com/xH7hQT3.png

it's not important which one you connect it to, but you have to make sure the header is configured correctly.
i mean may be you cooler requires pump to be running at constant speed and you trying to control it via SW
