Hey all,
I'm trying to fix an R9 270X I got for $24 that doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the factory overclock anymore. It's an XFX R9 270X (two 6 pin double fan) and I'm unfortunately getting the black screen display driver install problem that seems to be an issue with these cards. After I install the drivers via catalyst (or windows driver update) I get a black screen, and I can only get into windows via safe mode using the generic driver. Once in safe mode I can see the display adapter is listed as an XFX R9 200 series, and the proper vram amount is listed, however, I can't get the card identified in afterburner or precision to underclock/volt the card.
I wan't to flash the card down to a stock R9 270, but I've never messed with AMD cards and I certainly have never down flashed a gpu. Any suggestions on how to do this and/or fix the famous driver install bug so that I can underclock manually in afterburner? I know that some regular R9 270s only use one 6 pin whereas this 270x uses two, would that cause any problems with a bios flash?
thanks
