Hi, hope this is the right place for this

I just finished putting together a PC from these parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yhyncc

On startup, everything lights up and all fans spin but there is no POST. Monitor says "No Signal."

I have tried clearing CMOS by both shorting the 3pin and removing / replacing the battery.

My only hunch right now is a memory problem. When I built the PC I had trouble installing the memory modules. I made sure to orient them correctly, however it seemed like they just would not insert completely. I was barely able to insert them enough to snap the closure in, and doing so seemed to move the other side of the module up. I'm wondering if the modules I bought are not compatible with my motherboard? Anyway, that's my only hunch at the moment and any help would be appreciated

thanks :)

Well if you're able to access Bios with the integrated GPU, then it's either the card or PCIE slot.
I am assuming both monitor and GPU card have display port connections. You could try HDMI connection instead of Display port.? Make sure all cables and connections are secure.

Clean the GPU terminals with Isopropyl Alcohol 95% and use compressed air from a canister to blow out the PCIE slot in case of contamination. Only do this with the system shut down completely.

If that doesn't fix it then test the GPU in another system or swap it out with a known working unit.
If it still doesn't work then the MB is faulty IMO.
Hi Fidema

Iv'e checked and your DIMMs are listed on the MB QVL so they are compatible with both MB and CPU.

Modules are really simple to install but as you're having a problem seating them correct is of concern.

They would not work if not clipped down correctly on both sides for sure. Some RAM retaining clips are one sided and it is very often the offside to the clip that does not seat all the way. Inspect the modules and the MB slots for any contamination. You need to sort that out first.

As I don't know what else you have done and why no signal to monitor however faulty or poorly seated DIMMs can cause that.
You may also have a corrupted Bios if you are unable to enter Bios. Are you able to access Bios?

You have integrated graphics with your i7 CPU so use that to test if there is output to monitor and eliminate the possibility of GPU and PCIE slot malfunction.

Check the above first and report back please.

Hi MeanMachine,

As you suggested, I tried reinstalling both DIMMs and removing the video card - it worked! I was able to enter BIOS where I saw that all of the memory was recognized. I then shut down and reinstalled the video card and again met the "No Signal" message. So the problem appears to be the video card or PCIE slot. Unlike with the DIMMs, I didn't have any trouble installing the video card - it clicked right in and I connected a PCIE cable to both of the connectors from the PSU. The card lights up and both fans spin. What do you think the problem is? Is it possible the card or the DPort interface I connected it to the monitor with requires drivers pre-installed? I hope the problem isn't a faulty card or PCIE slot

thanks again

MeanMachine!

As you suggested I removed the video card once again, cleaned both it and the PCIE slot, and checked all of my connections. With the same DPort connection as before, it worked! I even disconnected the analog connection from the motherboard to make sure the monitor was indeed using the DPort, and it still worked. I don't know what changed, maybe the card or PCIE slot were contaminated as you said. I'm so relieved the video card and motherboard appear to be fine!

Thanks again for your help

That's good news Fidema :) Glad you have it sorted.
