here are my planned specs to the rig that i'll be building, any thoughts and recommendation? It's my very first time building my own system i've been a laptop user for a long time.

here are the two option i currently made included their current cheapest pricing in my country:

i5-7400 - 218$
Asus ROG STRIX b250i - 140$
ROG STRIX GTX1070 O8G GAMING - 480$
Seagate Barracuda 1TB ST1000DM010 (SATA 6Gb/s) Hard Drive - 47$
EVGA 450BV 80+ Bronze - 43$
Gskill z Trident RGB 2400mhz 2x8GB - 123$
TOTAL: 1051$

or

AMD RYZEN 5 1600 - 226$
ASUS PRIME B350M - 94$
ROG STRIX GTX1070 O8G GAMING - 480$
Seagate Barracuda 1TB ST1000DM010 (SATA 6Gb/s) Hard Drive - 47$
EVGA 450BV 80+ Bronze - 43$
Gskill z Trident RGB 2400mhz 2x8GB - 123$
TOTAL: 1013$

i heard ryzen's included fans are already good enough and i haven't picked a case what could you recommend for a cheap price around 30-40$ and currently my choice for a monitor is LG 23MP68VQ 23 inch IPS which is 154$ here, maybe you could recommend some monitors too which is cheaper with an ips panel and bezeless or any thoughts for the overall parts which may be cut down giving and will give almost the same performance

I'll let some other guys comment on the monitor. Personally, I would go with the Ryzen build however.

The i5 you picked out is last year's model, and won't really allow a good upgrade path. The 1600 is 6 core and hyperthreaded, which I think more games will go that way. Plus you should be able to have a better upgrade path on the AMD box.

It won't help gaming really, but I notice you are going with a single mechanical hard drive. You might consider the gtx 1060 6gb and add a solid state drive to the mix. The 1060 should be good for 1080p.

As far as the stock cooler on the 1600, it is a decent unit. I ran the stock cooler for a little while and was overclocked to 3.7ghz with it. If you have good airflow, you should be ok.

would check that other stuff you recommend. btw im from philippines and some of the parts here are overpriced was suppose to get a seasonic power supply too but its about 70$ in here isnt the evga a good choice too?

edit: tried to look for the evga 1070 can't seem to find one in any online store here in PH

not compared to the seasonic, but you can do worse. Its a cheap end evga (the G2 is the good one. Evga dont manufacture PSU, its outsourced) and preferably itd be a 550w so it would have less struggle. ( a top quality PSU can be trusted at lower spec)
Have a look at the stickied PSU thread and select a decent PSU thats available in your area.

The whole point is you can get an i5-8400 with a 1070. Dont buy a 1tb HDD drive. Get a 2tb for for only a few $ more. Strongly recommned the SSD now or ASAP. Forget ryzen, look at gaming performance. The new 6 core intel cpus are great.

IF you are willing to wait a few months, H370 boards will be out and cheaper. Im waiting myself. Upgrading from a 6600k to an 8700. no overclocking this time round. overrated.

maybe i could go a few bucks high and opt for a season s12 then stick with a 1tb hdd? then go with a 8gb Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Extreme ddr5 256bit? its around 449$ here. haven't had an onsite visit on stores so i can't confirm if there's no evga available in here

it doesnt have to be the seasonic. Again, look at the stickied PSU thread and try and find a decent one thats available in your area.

On a strict budget it really doesnt matter what brand of GPU you buy, as long as its the same model e.g. a 1070. Preferably evga, asus, msi, gigabyte. then then cheaper brands.

Regardless of hwat you do i cant recoemmend a 1tb over a 2tb HDD. So little difference in price for double the capcity. It doesnt have to be the hitachi i selected on the list. Whats the price on a 2tb seagate in your area?

yep thanks. didn't saw that i5-8400 is cheaper here than ryzen 5 1600. my bad :pt1cable: should have put i5-8400.

But currently only the more expensive Z370 motherboards are available. 8th gen CPU's wont work on 100 or 200 series motherboards.

yeah that's a thing too. i heard that intel stock cooler aren't that good and i don't want to buy any aftermarket coolor. is i5 -8400 still the best option given that i will be running with stock coolers only?

The stock cooler is fine, not the quietest but will keep safe temps as long as airflow in the case is sufficient.
